Swimming Instructor/Lifeguard Position in Santa Clara, CA

 

The Swimming Swan is proud to partner with Killarney Farms Swim Center for the Summer of 2022. We’re looking for new Lifeguards & Swim Instructors to join our team. Killarney Farms is a membership-only swim center. Our staff is needed to teach group and private swim lessons and act as the active lifeguards on duty. This is a seasonal position from June to August 2022.

 

As we are dedicated to providing the highest quality services to clients in our community, we’re offering full Lifeguard Certification and swim lesson training to qualified new hires* at no cost.

 

Employment is contingent upon the successful passing of a background/reference check and drug screening. *Certification courses offered per seasonal employment agreement. Contact for further details.

 

Full-time & Part-time Hours Available:

  •  Monday through Thursday
  • 9 am – 6 pm daily

 

Pay rates begin at $19 hourly and $20 hourly for applicants with a current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.

As a Lifeguard & Swim Instructor, your role includes:

  • Participating in pre-season training and a minimum of 4 hours of monthly in-service training in season.
  • Virtual and in-person training required
  • Opening and Closing Procedures, depending on schedule and hours.
  • Monitoring pool-related activities closely throughout shifts and identifying any safety issues.
  • Planning, organizing, and leading lessons with respect to the needs or goals of the clientele. 
  • Creating and executing a structured progression program design based on the client’s goals or needs with respect to The Swimming Swan LLC. curriculum.
  • Completes the “Certificates of Achievement” for all youth swim programs, children 12 and under.
  • Supporting The Swimming Swan LLC. mission statement as well as the goals of the individual clientele or group/team.
  • Directing swimmers out of the pool and/or clearing the deck during hazardous conditions.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of chemicals and pump room area(s) when applicable.
  • Assisting in monitoring weather reports closely to ensure the safety of guests.
  • Maintaining a clean environment in and around the pool
  • Assisting in the organization and monitoring of pool parties or rentals.
  • Providing assistance to patrons when appropriate or necessary.
  • Adhering to Proper Rotations and delegated Break Times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 16 years of age (note, if under age 18 a signed work permit may be required)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment verbal skills, swim, and in-water skills tests
  • Have access to reliable transportation.
  • Strong customer service background preferred.
  • Knowledge of swimming fundamentals and stroke development is preferred.
